Read the glass
Four numbers decide how a camera sees. Here's what they mean before you choose.
- Focal length
-
Measured in millimetres. Shorter takes in wide scenes and interiors; longer pulls distant subjects close and flattens the background.
- Aperture
-
The f-number. A lower number like f/1.8 lets in more light for low-light shooting and that soft, blurred background.
- Sensor size
-
Full frame, APS-C or 1-inch. A larger sensor gathers more light for cleaner images and richer depth.
- Stabilisation
-
In-lens or in-body systems that counter hand shake, so slower shutter speeds and handheld video stay sharp.

Shop by how you shoot
Made for the shot after sunset.
The best light shows up when most people pack away: blue hour, city glow, the last warm minutes of the day.
Bright apertures and capable sensors let you keep shooting when the light gets interesting. Pick the body, add the glass, and stay out a little longer.
